The movie adaptation based on a set of friends who played a 23-year game of tag is getting closer to production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinema won the bidding war to pick up the film, currently called Tag. Jack Black and Will Ferrell are attached to star.
The story attracted the attention of Hollywood in January when The Wall Street Journal published an article about 10 friends who have been playing a game of tag well into their 40s. In February, it was announced that the friends, called the “Tag Brothers,” awarded Todd Garner the movie rights to their story.
According to the report, the pitch reached studios last week and piqued the interest of many buyers.
Mark Steilen is attached to develop the script. Garner will produce the film and Dave Neustadter and Walter Hamada will oversee for New Line.
