Pedro Almódovar's I'm So Excited! to Open L.A. Film Festival
The Hollywood Reporter reports that I’m So Excited!, the latest from award-winning Spanish director Pedro Almódovar has been selected to open this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival on June 13.
The film depicts the comedic foibles that occur among the passengers and crew of a jetliner experiencing mid-flight turbulence.
“Pedro Almódovar is the cinematic gift who keeps on giving,” festival artistic director David Ansen said. “For four decades he’s amazed us with movies that are funny and dangerous, lovable and challenging, subversive and wildly inventive. It’s a privilege and pleasure to present his latest comic treasure as our opening night film.”
Almódovar won a Best Original Screenplay Oscar in 2003 for his film Talk to Her and has long been considered one of Spain’s finest filmmakers.
Presented by Film Independent, the festival will be headquartered at L.A. Live where it will run from June 13 to June 23. The film will be released in U.S. theaters on June 28 via Sony Pictures Classics.
