Deadline reported that Rachel McAdams is negotiating a deal to co-star in Cameron Crowe’s latest film alongside Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone.
The basis of the new film has not yet been officially revealed, but many speculate that it has links to Crowe’s 2008 script titled Deep Tiki. If this is true, THR reports that the plot will center around “a defense contractor (Cooper), who is overseeing a weapons satellite launch from Hawaii, teams up with (and falls for) an Air Force pilot (Stone) to scuttle the launch.” The Scott Rudin-produced film will also include mysterious smoke monster-esque forces and a talking computer. McAdams will play Cooper’s ex-girlfriend if she signs a deal.
Reese Witherspoon and Ben Stiller were originally attached to star in the previous version of Deep Tiki. The Almost Famous director’s most recent success was with the 2011 family film We Bought a Zoo.
As usual with his films, Crowe wrote the script and plans to direct the currently untitled project. Production is set to begin in October.
