Signed Copy of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Rakes in $290K at Auction
A signed copy of one of the Fab Four’s most beloved albums Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band has taken in $290,500 in auction, breaking a previous record of $150,000 for a copy of Meet the Beatles. The person with the winning bid as well as the previous owner were not named.
According to The Associated Press, the album fetched the high price in a Saturday auction through Dallas’ Heritage Auctions. Heritage estimated the album would go for around $30,000.
THR points out the edition of the album: A U.K. Parlophone edition printed around 1967, and the band is believed to have signed the album shortly after its release.
