The National to Perform "Sorrow" for Six Hours Straight at MoMA PS1
In today’s edition of “why not?” The National announced in a newsletter to fans that they will be partnering with Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson for an exhibit at New York’s MoMA PS1 on May 5.
Titled (appropriately) “A Lot of Sorrow,” the band will be performing the High Violet track “Sorrow” for six hours straight.
According to a posting by MoMA PS1, the project will explore “the potential of repetitive performance to produce sculptural presence within sound.”
The performance will take place at MoMA PS1’s VW Dome, though the newsletter said “the audio will be audible in the courtyard, so you can hear what happens as we play ‘Sorrow’ again and again and again.”
