In an interview with SPIN, TV on the Radio lead singer Tunde Adebimpe revealed that—while a new album is still not confirmed— the band has been working on several new songs.
“We’re sort of collecting material for a record, but right now we’re only thinking in terms of songs, smaller things we can put out regularly until an album seems possible,” he said in the article.
Furthermore, Adebimpe confirmed that the band had parted ways with Interscope Records.
They are currently working under band member Dave Sitek’s label, Federal Prism, for the foreseeable future. Last month, Sitek announced a new TV on the Radio single for later this year.
“To the best of my knowledge, [Interscope] can ask about another record, but I don’t think we’re gonna do that,” he said, adding, “that’s as diplomatic as I can put that.”
The band has taken a back seat in the two years since the release of their previous album Nine Types of Light. That same year, longtime bassist Gerard Smith died after a battle with lung cancer.
