Zach Braff Launches Kickstarter Campaign for Wish I Was Here
To fund his first directorial project since 2004’s Garden State, Zach Braff launched a Kickstarter campaign to assist in creating Wish I Was Here.
Inspired by the successful Veronica Mars Kickstarter, Braff hopes to achieve the goal of $2 million for a film that will focus on “the next chapter of your life in your 30s.” Wish I Was Here plans to film at Comic-Con to support the storyline of Braff’s brother attempting to win the heart of a “sexy, young furry.”
The Scrubs actor filmed a video that explains the process of film financing to potential donators. To help win over fans, Braff also invited his friends Jim Parsons, Donald Faison and Chris Hardwick to make hilarious cameos in the video.
Kickstarter prizes include t-shirts, weekly sneak peeks of the Wish I Was Here soundtrack, and an invitation to sit next to Braff at the premiere “with or without (his) hand resting gently on your leg.”
Braff concludes his charming pitch by stating, “Please help me make another movie for you like Garden State with no compromises. I promise I will put everything I have into it and I won’t let you down.”
Donations will be taken until May 24. Check out Braff’s complete sales pitch in the player below.
