If the lead singer of your Christian metal band can’t even stick to the Ten Commandments, it might be time to throw in the towel.
And that’s just what Christian metal group As I Lay Dying is going to have to do now that their lead singer, Tim Lambesis, has been arrested for allegedly trying to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife.
Last week, police at the San Diego Country Sheriff’s Department learned that Lambesis was looking for someone to carry out the killing of his wife, Meggan, who lives separately from the singer and reportedly filed for divorce last fall. They sent an undercover detective to pose as a hitman, and Lambesis took the bait. He was arrested at a retailer in Oceanside, California, yesterday and taken to Vista Jail on suspicion of solicitation of murder.
As for Meggan, she’s safe and sound, home in Encinitas with the three Ethiopian children she and Lambesis adopted.
As I Lay Dying was set to hit the road for an extensive summer tour at the end of the month. It’s unclear at the moment what the rest of the members will do, but it seems a safe bet that the tour will be canceled.
