After several cast and crew changes, Jane Got A Gun is building quite the reputation with stars joining and leaving seemingly every week. The latest actor to join the troubled Western, according to Deadline, is Ewan McGregor, who will play the film’s villain. The film will also reunite McGregor with his Star Wars co-star Natalie Portman.
McGregor’s role was originally given to Jude Law, however when director Lynne Ramsay left the project and Warrior’s Gavin O’Connor took the helm, Law also jumped ship. Bradley Cooper then signed on, but due to schedule problems also had to leave. Michael Fassbender, who was planned to play Portman’s ex-lover, also had to leave because of prior obligations with X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Other actors rumored to be considered for the film’s villain were Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Hiddleston and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. But give it a few weeks. Given the film’s track record there’s still plenty of time.
