Just a year after his triumphant return with 2012’s The Master, Paul Thomas Anderson seems to be all set with his cast for his next feature film, Inherent Vice. According to Deadline, Katherine Waterston, (Robot Frank, Michael Clayton) will star with Joaquin Phoenix in the adapted story from Thomas Pynchon’s novel.
The story focuses on a pot-smoking private investigator from California in the ‘60s. Other cast members who will join Waterston and Phoenix include Owen Wilson, Martin Short, Reese Witherspoon and Josh Brolin.
Phoenix will play the lead character, Doc, and Waterston will play Shasta, the ex-girlfriend of Doc’s. Inherent Vice is expected to start shooting this summer.
