Sigur Rós to Appear on The Simpsons

From Smashing Pumpkins to The White Stripes to Red Hot Chili Peppers to Barry White, The Simpsons is no stranger to booking famed musicians and groups as guest stars.

Now, it looks as though we can add Sigur Rós to that ever-growing list.

According to a report by Icelandic site MBL (there’s an English version of the news available via the Reykjavík Grapevine), the band will both appear in and contribute an original song to an upcoming episode of the Fox series.

The episode—scheduled to air on May 19—will take place in the band’s Icelandic homeland, which also happens to mark the ancestry of recurring character Carl Carlson.

Apparently, a Sigur Rós cover of The Simpsons theme song—done in conjunction with Danny Elfman—is also being worked out.
