Steven Spielberg to Direct Bradley Cooper in American Sniper
Steven Spielberg recently signed on to direct Bradley Cooper’s American Sniper, the film adaptation of American Sniper: The Autobiography Of The Most Lethal Sniper In U.S. Military History, according to Deadline.
The book tells the story of Chris Kyle and what lead him to become a NAVY Seal chief with the highest number of sniper kills in U.S. military history.
According to the report, Jason Dean Hall wrote the screenplay and will executive produce. DreamWorks and Warner Bros. are working together on the film that was spearheaded by Cooper, who optioned the book himself last year; Spielberg, Andrew Lazar and Peter Morgan are also on to produce.
Tragically, Kyle died earlier this year after being gunned down at a shooting range by a fellow veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder. The Texas native was 38 years old.
