Watch The Flaming Lips' Awesomely Weird Performance on Fallon

Last night The Flaming Lips continued the streak of strong musical guests on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Following performances by Vampire Weekend and Phoenix earlier in the week, the veteran psychedelic rockers pushed the limits of normalcy on late-night TV.

Clothed in tubular lights, Wayne Coyne and the rest of the band performed a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” along with “Try to Explain,” a cut from their most recent album, The Terror. Both performances saw Coyne singing from a raised platform as ropes of light seemed to travel out from his body, creating a bizarre visual reminiscent of James Cameron’s Avatar.

As a little bonus, the show also included a fully clothed Coyne playing a game of Pictionary with Fallon, Demi Lovato, and an overly-competitive Julie Bowen.
