YouTube Unveils Paid Subscription Service

After much anticipation, YouTube revealed its paid subscription service in a blog post.

As of now, the service applies to 30 content creators and brands such as Sesame Street, Jim Henson Family TV and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The video website said in its blog post that “there are more than 1 million channels generating revenue on YouTube, and one of the most frequent requests we hear from these creators behind them is for more flexibility in monetizing and distributing content.”

Monthly fees will start at 99 cents per month with a 14-day free trial, and some channels may offer discounted yearly rates.
