Christopher Crowe, who co-wrote the screenplay for the 1992 Last of the Mohicans feature film, is working on a script with Kerry McCluggage (Miami Vice) and Stephen Beck for the FX limited series Mohicans.
The Hollywood Reporter reports the series will be developed from James Fennimore Cooper’s 1826 classic novel, The Last of the Mohicans. The project is described as the tale of America’s start as a nation told through the eyes of the book’s characters.
Mohicans is yet another high-profile title that joins FX’s forthcoming limited series. A mini-series based on the book Last Days of the Incas, Paul Giamatti’s Mayflower, Sam Mendes’ Grand Hotel, Mad Dogs, Sutton, They Marched Into Sunlight and Fargo from the Coen Brothers and Noah Hawley, are all currently in development.
Academy Award-winner Daniel Day-Lewis starred in the original film, which grossed an estimated $75 million domestically and took home an Oscar for Best Sound.
