IFC Renews Portlandia for Two More Seasons

The Emmy-nominated IFC flagship Portlandia has just been renewed for a fourth and fifth season. Created and written by stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, Portlandia is now expected to run through 2015.

The 10-episode seasons will begin in early 2014 and 2015. The locally focused show has been highlighting Portland’s eccentric qualities since 2011 and with the show taking a more narrative focus in its third season. The cameo-filled show—executive produced by Lorne Michaels—has become IFC’s most-watched series.

Huffington Post reports that season five may be the show’s final season, Carrie Brownstein states that “Five seasons intuitively feels like the right amount of time…I always think people overstay their welcome. It’s better to leave people wanting more. But you never know.”
