The French novella The Little Prince is set for an animated adaptation by Kung Fu Panda director Mark Osborne, and it looks the film will have an all-star voice cast.
The Hollywood Reporter says Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro, James Franco, Paul Giamatti and Rachel McAdams have all landed voice roles in the upcoming film, which is adapted from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry famous children’s book.
The book, which was first published in 1943, follows a pilot who has crashed in the Sahara desert and meets a young Prince who is visiting Earth from his home on an asteroid. It has gained critical acclaim for its philosophical commentary and social critiques and has been made into various TV, film and musical adaptations over the years.
Though sources have confirmed that Bridges will voice the role of the pilot, there is no word yet on which characters the other actors will voice.
The film is being produced by Onyx Films, and is expected to arrive in theaters sometime next year.
