Following the birth of his baby girl last week, Kanye West already has some more good news.
Nielsen SoundScan has revealed that the rapper’s recent album Yeezus sold 327,000 copies in it’s first week, giving West his sixth No. 1 album debut.
West is now tied with Eminem and Nas for the second most No. 1 debuts in rap history. Only West’s frequent collaborator, Jay-Z, has more with 12 (and that number will probably go up when Magna Carta Holy Grail is released next week).
Though Yeezy will no doubt be pleased to hear the news of his No. 1 debut, the album is actually his worst debut in his career. His debut, College Dropout, is his only album not to grab the top spot in it’s first week, yet it still sold 441,000 copies. His last album, 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, moved 496,000 units during its first week.
