Matt & Kim, Kendrick Lamar, Explosions in the Sky, More to Play First Breakaway Music Festival
Primal Social Group is launching its inaugural festival in two Major League Soccer stadiums this September, with each event boasting a multi-genre lineup of indie, EDM, pop, hip-hop and more.
The fest will kick off Sept. 14 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The lineup thus far includes Bassnectar, Empire of the Sun, Kendrick Lamar, Tokyo Police Club, Schoolboy Q, Twenty One Pilots, Robert DeLong, American Authors, Porter Robinson, LA Riots, Stalley and Shreddie Mercury.
Then the following weekend, Primal Social will take the event to the FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas with performances from Wu-Tang Clan, Matt & Kim, Explosions in the Sky, Ra Ra Riot, Crizzly, Juicy J, Big Gigantic, Danny Avila and others.
“Prime Social Group is excited to launch these incredible new festivals in Columbus and Dallas. We are particularly thrilled to bridge the gap between sports culture and the music world with Breakaway,” said Adam Lynn, Prime Social Group Managing Partner, in a press release. “I believe this event will break new ground and it’s going to attract music fans from all over.”
Lynn also hopes to expand the event beyond a single day festivity. “By 2014 and 2015, we expect two- and three-day events for both markets. We are going to build this brand year by year until we believe it can sustain a multi-day,” he told Billboard.
Ticket presales begin June 18 at 11 a.m. and general sales follow on June 21. General admission tickets start at $49 and VIP at $119.
