Netflix Creates New Family Section
After revealing a deal with DreamWorks, Netflix has implemented a new tactic to draw in viewers. The video streaming giant has now launched Netflix Families, which offers curated lists of programming targeted at parents ad children.
Netflix Families will highlight kid-friendly entertainment options, something parents might find especially helpful during summer months.
“We see increases in family and kids content viewing hours during summer, so we know Netflix is a great solution for entertaining families this time of year,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer. “With the Netflix Families page, we’ve taken our proprietary algorithm to create lists we think families will love.”
The new section contains video tutorials explaining what streaming is as well as lists of shows and movies divided under sections such as “Are We There Yet? Great Titles To Take On Vacation,” “Catch-Up TV for Busy Parents” and “Quiet Time.”
“Parents will find the iconic Netflix rows filled with trusted recommendations of popular family TV shows and movies, information on the best ways to stream and videos about how other families use Netflix,” the company said.
