Netflix to Air New DreamWorks Animation Shows
Let the TV binge-watching continue. Netflix and DreamWorks Animation have revealed a multi-year deal that will make Netflix the home of new original TV series featuring DreamWorks characters and franchises, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In what is Netflix’s largest deal ever regarding original first-run content, DreamWorks will be able to supply new TV programs to the successful online streaming service.
DreamWorks is looking to expand its TV production and distribution worldwide, and it looks like that’s exactly what they’re doing, as the Netflix agreement covers more than 300 hours of new programming. The studio’s current franchises include Shrek, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon. The forthcoming film Turbo will be released July 17.
The first series is expected to air on Netflix some time in 2014. New DreamWorks films will also come to Netflix next year, including The Croods, Turbo and Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
