And in less bizarre Billy Corgan news, the Smashing Pumpkins are currently working on a new record while their box set, The Aeroplane Flies High, will be reissued July 23.
The 1996 set included 33 expanded versions of singles from their album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Now, the limited deluxe edition gets an upgrade with 90 unreleased demos, live recordings and alternate versions, as well as 14 audio-visual components, in addition to the set’s initial songs.
Also included in the reissue is a bonus disc featuring live recordings from the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1995 Mellon Collie tour, a DVD of footage from a July 4, a 1997 performance in France, a 46-page book with liner notes from critic David Wild and track-by-track notes from Billy Corgan for the original 33 tracks. More details can be found on the band’s website. EMI Music has previously reissued Mellon Collie, Gish and Siamese Dream.
The band has also confirmed that they’re working on a new album, a follow-up to last year’s Oceania.
