Matt Smith Says Goodbye to Doctor Who Fans in Video
After three seasons on Doctor Who, Matt Smith will leave his role as the eleventh Doctor. Today he wants to say goodbye to the sci-fi show and its loyal fans.
Standing in the streets of Detroit and sporting a much shorter haircut than his BBC character’s shaggy ‘do, Smith holds up pieces of paper with messages on them that thank Doctor Who’s cast, crew, creator Steven Moffat and—“most of all”—the fans.
He then drops the cards and says aloud: "Doctor Who land, listen. This is a message to say thank you for all your support over the past four years. To Steven Moffat, all the brilliant cast and crew who’ve just made the whole journey a marvelous one. But, really, what makes this job truly spectacular is the fans and the support from the fans—it’s truly unique, and it’s meant a lot. So, Thank you!”
Smith’s will depart Doctor Who after appearing on <the show’s 50th anniversary special and the Christmas special in December. There is no word yet who will replace Smith as the Doctor. Check out his goodbye message to fans above.
