The executives behind the sequel to 2007’s 300 are smart.
300: Rise of an Empire may not be coming to theaters until next March but, due to a few recent happenings in the film and TV industry, Warner Bros. decided to give us the first trailer a little early.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer, released earlier today, begins with a short monologue by Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo, which is well-played on the part of Warner Bros. execs looking to capitalize on the ongoing internet craze surrounding the shocking events on HBO’s Game Of Thrones (on which Headey plays Cersei Lannister).
The clip also does a good job of pointing out Zack Snyder as both producer and writer for the film, a strong credit considering Snyder directed the upcoming summer blockbuster Man of Steel. The new trailer is expected to be shown with the Superman film when it hits theaters next week.
Between GoT fans and Man of Steel moviegoers, it looks like 300: Rise of an Empire is headed for some big-time exposure.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 7, 2014.
