Batman, Superman to Join Forces in Man of Steel Follow-up
News keeps on flowing out of Comic-Con, and here is one of the biggest nuggets for fans of big-budget superhero flicks: The forthcoming Man of Steel sequel, directed by Zack Snyder, will feature Batman. It was rumored this weekend that Warner Bros. would announce a much-discussed Justice League film, but this seems like a logical step toward introducing the comic franchise’s most famous band of heroes.
The follow-up is expected in 2015, and no casting for Batman has been announced. Henry Cavill is expected to return to his role as Superman. Snyder also teased that Batman’s role will be inspired by Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, a work that was referenced heavily in the closing of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. The tease came when actor Harry Lennix took the stage with Cavill at Comic Con and read the DKR line: “I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”"
Until then, we can just keep crossing our fingers that Christian Bale will suck it up and reprise his role, but the odds are against us.
