Britt Robertson (Under the Dome, The First Time) will take on the lead role in Disney’s upcoming George Clooney flick Tomorrowland, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Robertson was one of the two finalists gunning for the role and will play a high-school girl with an “unconventional understanding of technology” who embarks on a quest to reclaim her future. Further plot details are being kept under tight wraps. Hugh Laurie is also attached to play the villain and Raffey Cassidy and Thomas Robinson will also star.
Tomorrowland will be directed by Brad Bird (Ratatouille, The Iron Giant) and was co-written by Bird, Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers) and Jeff Jensen. It will hit theaters on Dec. 12, 2014.
