Rob Delaney Opens Up About Addiction After Glee Actor's Death

Comedian and notorious Twitter personality Rob Delaney has toned down the language and opened up about his struggle with addiction in a Tumblr post.

Shortly after Glee actor Cory Monteith’s death, which was determined to be caused by a combination of heroin and alcohol, Delaney tweeted: “Love to Cory Monteith. If drugs/alcohol are killing you, there is help available. I got sober 11 yrs ago at 25. It can be done.” The responses he saw prompted him to write the entry that reflected on his own struggles with addiction. Delaney has talked about his own struggles before, but the comedian took to Tumblr to candidly address the issue at hand.

“I’m only writing this because I sensed a fatalism in some of the replies I received from people, suggesting they believe that some folks are destined to OD and die,” Delaney said. “Fuck that. Fuck you if you think that. Addiction is a brutal, cunning, shapeshifting enemy, but I’ve seen people from every walk of life kick it in the fucking mouth.”
