Cults Announce Sophomore Album, Static

Two summers ago the band that commanded the summer was a little-known act from New York. Cults dove in head-first by signing to Lilly Allen’s Columbia imprint In The Name Of and their first album was filled with climactic, dreamy indie-pop that harkens back to Phil Spector’s grandiose soundscapes. Now the band has announced their follow-up album Static, which is set for release on Oct. 15.

Static finds the band reuniting with producer Shane Stoneback, who co-produced the band’s eponymous debut, but Static also marks the band’s first time working with producer Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Washed Out, Youth Lagoon). Along with the album announcement, the band has released a teaser trailer for their sophomore album that features snippets of two tracks that will be featured on Static, “We’ve Got It” and “So Far”.

Check out the eerie teaser trailer and the band’s upcoming tour dates, which include a spot at Paste’s Untapped Festival, below.
