New Girl Talk Mashups Include Kanye West/Marilyn Manson, Daft Punk/Michael Jackson
Now Gregg Gillis has given fans a new reason to put on their dancing shoes.
Yesterday, the 31-year-old musician tweeted two live videos of mashups that feature two of the hottest songs of the summer, and his choices couldn’t have been more spot on.
In one video, Gillis pairs Kanye West’s percussion-heavy “Black Skinhead” with the dark whispers of Marilyn Manson’s 1996 song “The Beautiful People.” The two tracks, though different in genre, share a similar rhythm—so much so that when West debuted “Skinhead” earlier this year, many wondered if he was sampling Manson.
In the other video, Gillis shows off his rendition of Daft Punk’s massively successful “Get Lucky,” complete with Michael Jackson’s vocals from his 1992 hit “Remember the Time.” Though the latter mashup might not have been quite as easy to predict as that of Kanye/Manson, it still holds together undeniably well.
