Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim Lands New Limited Edition Poster
Inspired by Guillermo del Toro’s epic sci-fi film Pacific Rim, Austin’s Odd City Entertainment has gathered renowned artists from all over the world to produce official limited edition posters for the upcoming film. Though its first artist Gabz was announced in late June, Odd City has revealed another in the series, NE, who worked closely with the studios, del Toro himself and Odd City to provide his personal take on the flick.
Like Polish artist Gabz, NE related how daunting it was to work on a project with “so much scope and potential,” while possessing only limited information and clips from the movie. However, one aspect of the plot in particular stood out to him. “The notion of two people having their minds synchronized to control a giant robot really caught my imagination,” he said. “The concept of people entering each other’s minds in such a complete way is haunting to me. It’s a really intimate and abstract idea for such a large movie.”
Focusing his design on the the human characters rather than the monsters, NE continued, "I wanted to show the characters in a heroic, almost patriotic way, while also visualizing this pilot to pilot connection.”
The Odd City limited edition screen prints will be randomly released beginning on July 2 and lasting through July 11th. Both versions of the print can be viewed below. To order your own copy of either limited edition print, go to Odd City’s web store.
In other news, the third and final trailer of Pacific Rim also debuted today, which can be viewed here.
