Bidding Race Begins for Screen Rights to J.K. Rowling's The Cuckoo's Calling

A line has already formed in Hollywood of studios trying to pin down the rights to Robert Galbraith’s—er, JK Rowling’s—mystery novel, The Cuckoo’s Calling. Warner Bros, who released all of the Harry Potter movies, might have a leg-up in the competition due to their pre-existing relationship, The Guardian reports.

After it was revealed from a loose-lipped lawyer that Galbraith was a penname for the billionaire author JK Rowling, the book shot up to No. 1 in the U.K. fiction charts within one week. However, prior to the attention The Cuckoo’s Calling has received since the true author was revealed, it had already received two offers from TV production companies for an adaptation.
