As the age of the internet continues to evolve, we see more and more artists developing alongside it. Earlier this year, TV On The Radio announced that they’d be splitting with Interscope in favor of joining their band member Dave Sitek’s new label Federal Prism, and while they had no plans for a full-length, they would most definitely be releasing new material. Now it seems the band has fully committed to breaking the album cycle, as they’ve released their first new track “Mercy” on Soundcloud.
“Couldn’t be more excited to be getting back into it, all together,” Kyp Malone told Huffington Post, who debuted the track earlier today. “The new songs ‘Mercy’ and ‘Million Miles’ came to fruition with such ease that it felt like an invitation to get back to this good work.” “Mercy” marks a welcome return for TV On The Radio, it’s their first release since 2011’s Nine Types of Light.
Federal Prism is set to release more material in the near future from TV On The Radio, Chuck Inglish (of The Cool Kids), Stardeath and White Dwarf and much more. The label will be releasing track stems as well so fans can remix the new tracks.
