Neil Gaiman to Bring Back Sandman this Fall
More than 10 years since best-selling writer Neil Gaiman ended his extremely popular comic The Sandman, new details have emerged on his return to the series, titled The Sandman: Overture. As previously reported, Gaiman has reunited with illustrator J.H. Williams III (Batwoman, Promethea) on this highly anticipated addition to the comic series.
Gaiman told the New York Times that Overture features “the most beautiful pages I have ever seen in periodical comics.”
The first installment in Overture will be an oversized issue that includes an interior gatefold, available for readers on Oct. 30. Published bi-monthly, each issue features cover art by Dave McKean and will be published digitally on the same day.
More details about the series—including a sneak peek at the artwork—will be unveiled at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, where Gaiman, Williams and McKean are special guests. They will also join a 25th Anniversary all-star panel hosted by Vertigo Comics.
