Earlier this month speculation was abound for the upcoming reissue of Nirvana’s final studio album, In Utero. Much like 2011’s massive Nevermind reissue, fans were expecting to get tons of rare b-sides, unheard mixes and various demos from the band’s iconic album. Earlier this month a hilarious un-used promo video was released to announce the reissue, but now the speculation around the release can come to a close, as Universal Records has just announced a slew of new details about the band’s upcoming reissue. Slicing Up Eyeballs points out that Universal will be releasing a “Super Deluxe” edition that features more than 70 “remastered, remixed, rare, unreleased and live recordings.”
Although no tracklist has been released as of yet, we do know that the bulky set will be released in various forms on Sept. 24. The “Super Deluxe” edition will boast an impressive 3CD/1DVD collection of unheard “demos, B-sides, compilation tracks, and live material” from the band’s final touring lineup, including the highly anticipated “Live and Loud” concert that was filmed on Seattle’s Pier 48 on Dec. 13, 1993.
The reissue will also be released as a two-CD set, a triple vinyl release and “Live and Loud” will also be available as a standalone DVD.
