Ryan Adams Records Punk Tunes With Fall Out Boy in Late-Night Session
Well we didn’t see this one coming.
Apparently Ryan Adams crafted some punk tunes with Fall Out Boy. Yep, you read that right.
According to Rolling Stone, the 38-year-old musician invited the pop/punk group over to his Pax-Am studio after having dinner together at a Los Angeles restaurant. The ensuing late-night sessions resulted in a handful of songs and an Instagram post by FOB bassist, Pete Wentz.
“It’s impossible to deny the spirit of what was happening there,” Wentz told RS. “It was punk rock – the stuff that makes you want to kick the shit out of your bedroom at your parents’ house.”
Though Wentz admitted that he wasn’t sure how (or if) the collaborative material would be officially released, he did have some praise-filled comments about his band’s time with Adams.
“It was like hanging out with your older brother that got you into punk rock. Except he gets all the jokes and he’s not like, ’Here’s these shitty kids’ or whatever. So that was cool,” said Wentz.
Earlier this year Adams released a punk-rooted EP called 7 Minutes in Heaven with his newly formed band, Pornographers. Fall Out Boy also had a release earlier this year with their fifth studio album, Save Rock and Roll. Check out Wentz’s Instagram photo below, and head over to Rolling Stone for more from Wentz.
