Watch the Paul Thomas Anderson-Directed Video for Fiona Apple's "Hot Knife"
For her latest Idler Wheel video, Fiona Apple re-teamed with director and ex-boyfriend Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights) to craft a stunning visual for album closer “Hot Knife.”
According to an interview with V Magazine in 2012, the video has been over a year in the making, with the artist saying she and Anderson had started on the music vid, but production stalled when the director had to leave to work on a film. Now the finished product is here—a just-over-four-minute mixture of split screens, black-and-white filters and an appearance by Apple’s sister, Maude Maggart, who offers vocals on the track.
Apple has enlisted Anderson in the past for several other videos, such as “Paper Bag” and “Limp.” Take a look at their latest visual collaboration above. (via Pitchfork)
