Early last month, Queens of the Stone Age released their sixth studio album ...Like Clockwork, and they’re promoting its release through a slightly unorthodox medium. No, not vinyl, not CD…but the USB. In an infomercial that was released yesterday, the band hired the long-haired spokesman of Do Stuff Corporation, “Ricky Chism”—played by Fred Armisen—to sell all the quirks of the 8GB USB flashdrive.
Chism reminded us that it doesn’t matter “whether you’re a red-head or brunette” and it doesn’t matter where you are: the drive formats with everything and works with all of your devices. The clip feels like an unaired Portlandia sketch, and nearing the three-minute mark, Chism even dances while announcing the tracks.
The $29.99 flash drive contains the full album and extras like hi-resolution band photos, original artwork, lyric sheets, every QOTSA music video, and get this: it doubles as a bottle opener. Watch the video below, and if you’re swayed by the infomercial, order yourself one (or five hundred) here.
