This week’s edition of “indie artists covering radio hits” comes courtesy of Low.
The Minnesota rockers performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago on Saturday, and their set included a cover of Rihanna’s piano ballad “Stay.”
The track was originally co-written by Mikky Ekko and Justin Parker (Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding) and is performed as a duet between Ekko and the Barbadian pop star. The track climbed all the way up to No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Low’s Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker took the parts as Ekko and Rihanna, respectively, saying they’d been practicing the song all week. The band is currently touring in support of their 10th studio album, The Invisible Way.
