Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Director Timur Bekmambetov May Reboot Ben-Hur
Timur Bekmambetov, director of such films as Night Watch, Wanted and most recently last year’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, is in talks to direct a reboot of the Charlton Heston classic Ben-Hur, according to Deadline.
The script, which was written by The Way Back’s Keith Clarke, is based on the novel “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ,” which tells the story of Judah Ben-Hur before the events of the 1959 film.
While remaking William Wyler’s classic might seem blasphemous, Ben-Hur was actually the first remake ever to win Best Picture at the Oscars, based on the 1925 film Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.
