College Football Rivalry Gets Its Own Beer

The rivalry between the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee runs deep in my family. My parents went to UT and all three of their kids are UGA grads. We can celebrate both the Vols and the Dawgs this fall, though, with 35th Parallel Ale a collaboration between Knoxville, Tenn’s Saw Works Brewing Company and Athens, Ga’s Terrapin Brewing Company.

Named after the two states’ water dispute involving their geographical boundaries, the limited-release beer will be available beginning Oct. 1 in Knoxville, where the two football teams meet four days later.

“I know a lot of East Tennesseans will be excited to experience this collaboration,” says Saw Works president Adam Palmer. “It’s an honor to be co-brewing with the team at Terrapin, and we are looking forward to a great football weekend come October.”

“We‘re just glad to be brewing in Tennessee,” adds Terrapin brewmaster Spike Buckowski.” “We know they have plenty of water to spare!”
