Daft Punk Preview “Lose Yourself to Dance” Video at VMAs
Prior to handing out the Best Female Video award to Taylor Swift for “I Knew You Were Trouble,” Daft Punk teased a sneak preview of their “Lose Yourself to Dance” video at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. The snippet features Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers performing in glitzy, disco-era regalia.
It had previously been speculated the last-minute cancellation of their scheduled Aug. 6 performance on The Colbert Report was the result of a contractual obligation to appear exclusively on MTV.
“If Daft Punk were on my show then people wouldn’t tune in to see them on the VMAs almost a month from now,” Stephen Colbert said. “That’s how music works! You love a band, you see them once and then you never want to see them again. That’s why after The Beatles went on Ed Sullivan they dropped off the face of the Earth.”
