Fox to Produce Les Misérables-Based Show
Les Misérables will soon make its debut on the small screen. Fox has announced its plans to adapt the popular novel into a TV series.
Victor Hugo first published the novel in 1862. Since then, it has been adapted several times into plays and films. Fox’s modern take on the novel will feature a more contemporary version of Jean Valjean as a lawyer with a difficult family life who juggles charity work and “high society,” according to Deadline.
Valjean will “[run] a legal exoneration program” in addition to “[fighting] to evade the consequences of his own unjust conviction years before.”
Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas will serve as producer for the show, which was written by Graham Norris.
