Laura Prepon Reportedly Taking Lesser Role in Orange Is The New Black, Netflix Stays Mum
Despite rave reviews for her performance on Netflix’s newest original series, Orange is the New Black, it was recently announced the Laura Prepon would not be returning as a series regular for the second season. While Prepon will appear in a handful of episodes to resolve her story, BuzzFeed reports that the former That 70’s Show star will not be featured in all 13 episodes of the next season.
Numerous sources have reached out to Netflix who have simply replied that “our season is still developing and nothing is confirmed.”
It’s unclear whether the decision for Prepon’s exit was a creative move made by the show’s creator Jenji Kohan or if it was Prepon’s personal decision. News of her exit comes amid announcements of series favorites like Taryn Manning (Pennsatucky), Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes) and Kate Mulgrew (Red) becoming series regulars.
The show was renewed for a 13-episode second season before it began airing back in June and the second season has already begun filming in New York. Season two will make its premiere sometime in 2014.
