Listen to National Frontman Matt Berninger's Song for Boardwalk Empire

August 21, 2013  |  10:00am

As previously reported, Matt Berninger of The National fame is set to contribute music to HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. And now, we’ve heard Berninger’s offering in the ’20’s-inspired soundtrack with “I’ll See You in My Dreams.” As expected, the singer’s low croon mixes nicely with the ‘20s tones.

Patti Smith, St. Vincent, Elvis Costello and many others will be featured on volume two covering songs all from the 1920s. The music supervisor on the show, Randall Poster, expressed his excitement in a statement:

“Boardwalk Empire provides an incredible backdrop for music. It’s been a steady treat to mark the passing of time in song over the course of four seasons. Terry Winters, Martin Scorsese and the entire Boardwalk Empire team inspire the sound of the episodes.”

The collection, out through ABKCO, is set for a Sept. 3 release. Take a listen above.
