Marion Cotillard to Play Lady Macbeth in Film Adaptation
Looks as though Marion Cotillard best brush up on her Shakespeare.
Deadline reports that the Oscar-winning French actress has signed on to play the manipulative Lady Macbeth in director Justin Kurzel’s screen adaptation of The Bard’s classic play, Macbeth. She will share the screen with Michael Fassbender, who was tapped to play the titular character back in May.
Cotillard will be replacing fellow Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, who was previously attached to the role. King’s Speech and Shame’s Iain Canning and Emile Sherman will be producing the film, which is scheduled to begin pre-production towards the end of the year.
