Bateman, Helms, Sudeikis Don Vests for Mumford & Sons' "Hopeless Wanderer" Video

We’ve long since figured out the Mumford formula for songs and videos. Some finely placed banjo riffs, a handful of passionate shouts and harmony-laden vocals lay the foundation while rustic settings play into the musical aesthetic. But once you think you’ve got Mumford & Sons figured, they go all meta on you and bring in a gang of comedians to fill out their new video for “Hopeless Wanderer.”

Jason Bateman, Ed Helms, Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte don their finest vests and dapper attire for Mumford’s new video. While the video begins with your standard out-of-focus shots shrouded with mystery and blinded by sunlight, the slow reveal features Helms lugging a piano down a dirt road and the rest of the crew loaded down with more instruments than one should physically be able to carry.

With hilarious beards and uhm, intimate harmonies between Sudeikis and Forte, the “Hopeless Wanderer” video shows that the Grammy-winning folk quartet hasn’t gotten too full of themselves yet. Fans and detractors alike have reasons to check out this video, and that’s quite the clever move on the Mumford’s part.
