While it’s convenient, sharing a Netflix account with someone else can totally screw up your recommended content and queues (and can also reveal embarrassing secrets, like the fact that you just spent eight hours binge-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Now Netflix has given us the gift of a brand new multiple-profile feature.
Starting today, each Netflix account will offer up to five different profiles, which will be personalized based on each user’s watching habits. Members can create their own individual queues, enjoy recommendations based on what content the viewer (and no one else) enjoys. The profiles will also be able to connect to subscribers’ Facebook pages, so now we’ll all be able to swap suggestions on what show to obsess over next.
“We continually innovate and are proud to deliver an even better, more personal Netflix experience,” said Netflix Chief Product Officer Neil Hunt in a press release. “Now everyone in your home can have their own Netflix experience, built around the TV shows and movies they enjoy. No longer will your Netflix suggestions be mixed up with those of your kids, a significant other, roommates, or house guests.”
Profiles have already started rolling out and will be available for all members within two weeks.
