Listen to Okkervil River's New Album The Silver Gymnasium

Indie-folk outfit Okkervil River has made its upcoming album The Silver Gymnasium available to stream a week before the scheduled Sept. 3 release date. Formerly on Jagjaguwar, The Silver Gymnasium will be Okkervil River’s first release with ATO.

This is the seventh album from Austin, Texas natives and follows the line of 2008’s The Stand Ins and their 2011 release I Am Very Far. Inspired by frontman Will Sheff’s upbringing and hometown of Meriden, N.H., The Silver Gymnasium is fueled with the same heavy, indie-rock instrumentals and catchy folk melodies that set the foundation for Sheff’s nostalgic and sentimental vocals.

In addition to releasing the album, Okkervil River has also announced a string of fall U.S. tour dates. Listen to the new album The Silver Gymnasium via NPR.
