Sub Pop Releases Original Nirvana Contract
Label breaks the bank for scrappy four-piece with $600 advance
Today on its Tumblr, Sub Pop has uploaded the original exclusive recording agreement with Nirvana.
The contract is for two years and three albums—and how much does the biggest band of the ’90s get as an advance? $600. Also of note, the fact that Krist Novoselic’s name is mistakenly spelled “Chris.”
It would seem that Sub Pop most likely made their $600 back.
