Tina Fey Producing New Comedy For NBC
Earlier this year we wept over the loss of 30 Rock, one of the few comedic gems left on the NBC lineup. Tina Fey has received various accolades for her work on the show, and you may recognize her from a small sketch comedy show called Saturday Night Live. To put it simply, she’s kind of a big deal, so when Deadline reported that she was set to produce an upcoming comedy penned by a former 30 Rock writer, fans of Fey breathed a welcome sigh of relief.
NBC bought an untitled comedy series from 30 Rock writer Colleen McGuinness, the woman behind episodes like “My Whole Life is Thunder” and “St. Patrick’s Day.” McGuinness runs a pretty hilarious Twitter account for those who are interested in getting a peek at her sense of humor. The untitled series is said to be a female-centered workplace comedy, like a Fire Island Cheers, and will be follow a young woman who seeks to reconnect with her father.
Fey will executive produce the comedy alongside 30 Rock showrunner Robert Carlock. 30 Rock is currently prepping for its last run at the Emmys after receiving an impressive 13 nominations, but if all goes well Fey and Carlock may not be out of the Emmy limelight for too long.
